Well, as others have said, this is a really nice medicine cabinet. Well framed, attractive and simple. I love the thing! And the fancy slow closing door....while not necessary, kind of a cool thing if you are the first one up in the morning. It won't slam. Also as others have said the brackets and the glass shelves are a PAIN! Inside the cabinet, there is a row of small holes in a vertical line on each side of the inside of the cabinet to hold the brackets for the shelves. The brackets have raised bumps (four or five) that are supposed to fit into those. There are problems with this design. First, to get both sides aligned into the matching holes on each side (I suggest counting and putting a mark on each side on the top hole to line them up. Second to slide in the glass shelf without forcing it is tricky. The fit, by design is TIGHT! Therefore, as happened with me, the brackets and/or the shelves were too tight and after sitting in there for awhile, the stress of the fit caused chips of glass to fall off of one shelf and a small crack appeared in another.I called Robern, the guy was wonderful and quite familiar with the shelf problem. He offered a couple of suggestions. One was, sometimes the bumps that fit in the holes can be a bit tight, so if that feels like what is going on, a light sanding in 360 degrees around each bump on the bracket might help loosen the fit and reduce strain on the glass. As he put it, better too tight than too loose. But if it is too tight that may be the fix.One of the three shelves went in beautifully, by the way. Perfectly set. You'll know pretty quickly if they are too tight. They won't go in straight. One side will stick out a bit further than the other, past the threshold for the shelf, and the door will rest on it, or it will not stay level. You will feel like you need to force it in. Not good. So, Robern, without any additional information than my phone call is sending me two replacement shelves and two replacement brackets. Thank GOD this didn't require hauling the thing out of the wall. I would NOT have been happy about that. He said they will be here in 5 to 7 days. I'll be back at a later date to report on the arrival of the shelves and the outcome of the second installation. This is a nice unit. But there were a couple of issues. 1st, the mirror is frameless and this is not clear in the description. I would have still purchased had this been clear, but I was disappointed. 2nd, the screws holding the hinges in place were damaged and had to be removed, chased with an appropriate die, and reinstalled. A factory defect that should have been caught at the factory.I wasn't particularly excited about the prospect of replacing an old medicine cabinet. After some searching on the home depot and lowes sites I ended up finding this Robern cabinet with many excellent reviews. I had never heard of the company, so I looked up their site and it seemed to be mainly high end stuff. Since the price seemed reasonable, I ordered one. It's a stylish well made cabinet. Triple mirrors were a surprise and the aluminum cabinet is a far cry from the stamped steel mess this replaces. I'm very pleased.I noticed a negative review based on how hard the plastic shelf clips are to install. Since I just went through this, I can assure you that they were doing it wrong. The instructions do not elaborate but you need to carefully snap the plastic clips into the holes on the side. Once you get one in properly you'll see the difference. Then it's easy.5 stars! We bought this medicine cabinet for our newly remodeled second bathroom. We were looking for a quality product and not a big box store product. Robern is an excellent manufacture and is sold by many of the higher end plumbing stores. They make many styles of medicine cabinets, some of them costing a thousand or more dollars. This particular cabinet is of high quality for an excellent price. It's well made, shelves adjust easily, is mirrored on the inside of the door and the inside back of the cabinet, The bevel on the outside is very pretty and the soft close is a wonderful feature. There isn't a handle but it's very easy to pull open at the mirror's corner or at the edge of the mirror without actually touching the mirror and leaving fingerprints. We couldn't be happier with our purchase.Excellent quality throughout. Solid aluminum frame, no flex. Thick glass shelves, three mirrored surfaces. Arrived in a box approximately three times the volume of the box containing the medicine cabinet, every inch of which was filled with high density foam. This thing will arrive in one piece! Very impressed.Update: finally got this thing installed. I don't understand the problem people were having with the shelves -- I found them to be very easy to install. What you need to do is take each bracket, line it up with the appropriate holes (you have to lean in a bit to see the holes as they're hidden), and push in firmly. Then slide the glass in slowly. Eventually you'll hit a detent on both brackets; wiggle up and down slowly and you'll get past them.If you're even looking at this then you must be considering a medicine cabinet. Don't hesitate to skip the rest and just get this one. It is machined aluminum, not the stamped steel most of the other ones are made out of. Mounts easily, looks great. LOVE the soft-close feature. We're thinking of replacing all the other one's in our house just because this one is so beautiful and sleek. Other notable things are: - The door is not the traditional glass glued to something else -- the door is JUST glass and super thin. - The hidden shelf mounting brackets make for a great presentation inside. - Having 3 mirrored surfaces beats all the rest (inside back, inside door, and outside door) - Doesn't stick out as far as any other recessed medicine cabinet I have seen. - Hinges don't take up inside storage space.
